Dr. Kate Brennan
In addition to being a marriage and family therapist, Kate holds a doctorate in marriage and family therapy. She received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California Berkeley, a Master’s degree in counseling from the University of Southern California and her Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Ryokan College. Dr. Brennan is certified in Somatic Experiencing and practices EMDR, both naturalistic approaches to resolving anxiety, stress and trauma. Dr. Brennan specializes in anxiety and stress related issues including depression, postpartum depression and developmental and family issues including attachment and trauma.
Her training is in Attachment theory, Humanistic Psychology and Somatic therapy. Her knowledge and training in mindful based stress reduction, herbs, homeopathy and nutrition are also used to help clients reduce anxiety and stress.
In addition to her practice, Dr. Brennan has worked for Kaiser Permanente as a temperament specialist and parenting educator and has lectured and taught throughout the Bay Area focusing on family health and wellness. Dr. Brennan just recently developed a program to help clients who feel tapped out and overwhelmed.
